I’ve never even heard of photoshop elements, what is it and how is it different from Photoshop CS4?

Photoshop elements is like a disabled version of the real Photoshop. Photoshop CS4 is for professionals – graphic designers and photographers, Photoshop Elements is for the home user or amateur.

The main difference would be the ‘pen tool’. This is not availible in Photoshop Elements. Additionally Photoshop Elements doesn’t have all the advanced features Photoshop CS4 has, but it does have some of its own things such as the organizer, smart brush, cookie cutter, etc. If you are a beginner or intermediate photographer, I would recommend Photoshop Elements. If you are a professional, and wanting to use it for web design and illustration, or very professional photography, thats the only time I would recommend Photoshop CS4 over Elements.
Below is a link to one of my projects that really shows the artistic feature of Photoshop Elements.
