I am trying to email some pics from my dad’s comp, which has elements 7, I have 6, but everytime I try to open them they unexpectedly close.

Does photoshop elements 6 not read DNG? Could it be some other problem? If it is the DNG, is there a free malware free download of a DNG reader somewhere?

  1. David S says:

Save the file as a JPG and send that instead.

DNG is Adobe’s RAW file format. You have to open them in Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) for processing, not viewing. To open RAW files in Elements: File>Open As. In the dialog that opens, roam to the photos, select those you want to open. Be sure to select Camera Raw in the Open As box at the bottom of the dialog. Then click OK. The ACR will open with lots of sliders for RAW processing.

The other answerer is correct if you just want to view the photos they have to be jpgs.
